SUGARING
before & after care

A quick guide to keeping your skin comfortable and smooth before, during, and after your sugaring treatment.

Sugaring is a gentle, natural hair removal method that’s been used for centuries. The paste is made from just three simple ingredients — sugar, lemon, and water — and is applied against the direction of your hair growth, then flicked off with it. This pulls the hair from the root while minimizing irritation, breakage, and ingrown hairs.

Unlike wax, sugaring only adheres to hair and dead skin cells — never live skin — which means no burns, peeling, or harsh irritation. Over time, many clients notice their hair grows back softer and finer.

What is Sugaring?

Before your Sugaring Appointment

How to Set up your skin for success

Hair length

Hair should be at least ¼ inch long (about the length of a grain of rice). If you normally shave, allow 10–14 days of regrowth before your first sugaring.

2

Exfoliate (but not right before)

Gently exfoliate the day before your appointment to help lift hairs and prevent ingrowns. Avoid exfoliating immediately before.

3

Skip lotions and oils

Do not apply creams, oils, or deodorant to the area being sugared — they can interfere with the paste.

4

Stay hydrated

Well-hydrated skin is softer and responds better to sugaring.

5

Avoid stimulants

Try to skip caffeine and alcohol before your appointment, as they can increase sensitivity.

What’s normal

Some redness or sensitivity may occur and usually fades within 24 hours.

Let your skin breathe

2

Wear loose clothing and avoid friction on freshly sugared areas.

Skip the heat

3

Avoid hot baths, saunas, steam rooms, tanning, intimacy, or heavy workouts for 24 hours.

Keep it clean

4

Avoid fragranced lotions, heavy oils, or harsh products on the area right after. Stick to gentle, natural moisturizers

Exfoliate regularly

5

After 48 hours, exfoliate lightly a few times a week to prevent ingrowns. Pair with a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer to keep skin smooth.

Stay consistent

6

Sugaring every 4–6 weeks helps reduce hair density over time and gives the smoothest, longest-lasting results.
